Not long ago, the return of the Marvel vs. Capcom series and Capcom's crossover fighters seemed highly unlikely. However, circumstances seem to be changing rapidly. Recently, Capcom revealed the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, while SNK vs. Capcom: SVC CHAOS also saw a sudden release. These re-releases have sparked enthusiasm among fans, creating anticipation for potential future installments.

In a recent conversation with Dextero, Capcom's Shuhei Matsumoto, who has overseen the production of Street Fighter 6 and the previously mentioned Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, expressed their aspiring to create new crossover fighting games featuring Marvel or SNK. However, Matsumoto adds that these grand aspirations might take some time to become a reality. This is primarily why Capcom is ensuring continuity in the Versus line with re-releases.

Matsumoto indicated that big things might be underway at the Capcom development team. "Possibly, we see opportunities for new Marvel vs. Capcom or SNK-based Capcom games. However, such ventures require tremendous time and effort. In the interim, we have re-introduced past games to young audiences unfamiliar with them, as they might not be available on contemporary platforms," he said, stressing the importance of keeping these series accessible. "We hope that as more people come to know these series, we may have more opportunities to roll out larger-scale games in the future."

SNK vs. Capcom: SVC CHAOS is presently available on PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics is set to launch on the same platforms later this year.
