Next Darksiders Title Announced, First Teaser Features the Charred Council

During its latest Digital Showcase, THQ Nordic has thrilled fans with an enticing preview of what’s to come in the Darksiders franchise. The teaser opens in an intense, fiery cave brimming with molten lava. Suddenly, three stone figures illuminate and call out the word "Horseman!" just before the screen goes black. As the suspense builds, viewers are greeted with the message, "Be prepared to ride again..."

These formidable figures are known as the Charred Council, a recurrent element throughout the Darksiders universe. Acting as significant arbiters in the eternal conflict between Heaven and Hell, they ensure the equilibrium of power. The term "horseman" alludes to the iconic characters players have grown to love: the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, which are War, Strife, Fury, and Death.

It remains unclear if the upcoming title will feature all four protagonists or focus on a single character, similar to what was seen in Darksiders Genesis with its dual-character gameplay. Additionally, further details such as the release date and supported platforms are still pending announcement. Development is in the hands of Gunfire Games, a team that has previously contributed to Darksiders 3 and the Remnant series, as well as the earlier Darksiders titles when they were known as Vigil Games.
