Todd Howard, the Game Director of Starfield, suggested that the game's ending may provoke debate among players due to its ambiguous nature. In a discussion with NPR, he hinted that the game's finale might not offer definite answers to all questions, encouraging players to interpret the conclusion in their own ways. He refrained from revealing spoilers, meaning players would have to complete the main campaign themselves to discern his perspective.

Starfield's main campaign can be completed in approximately 18 hours, but straying off the linear path or aiming for complete game completion could extend gameplay to around 48 or 192 hours respectively. The game is currently playable on PC and Xbox Series X|S, including Xbox Game Pass. Remarkably, one player managed to finish the main campaign in early access in less than three hours.

Regarding the game's vast galaxy setting, Bethesda's Managing Director Ashley Cheng and Howard emphasized that players shouldn't expect an abundance of activities on every planet. They explained that some planets were intentionally designed to be deserted, aiming to evoke a feeling of solitude.
