WhatsApp company improves its security with the new granular privacy control. It works for Last Seen, About, and Profile Photos. Users can restrict their access to information about them for specific accounts.

WhatsApp rolls out an advanced privacy control system for all its users. The new service provides a granular control system for users over their settings. You will be able to prohibit other users to view the data in your account. Other users will not be able to read about you, last seen information, or even the photo in your profile. The development of the new feature was originally noticed by app investigators in 2021. Once the rumors began to spread WhatsApp rolled out several features for beta testing. Improvements on the privacy of users came only several days later the announcement that the company adds more support to the chats for gadgets that run on iOS and Android mobile platforms.

Last Thursday, a Meta-owned social network announced the new feature. The information on granular privacy controls appeared on their official page on Twitter. According to the company, the new options will allow increasing users’ privacy to a higher level. You don’t need to close your information from everyone. Instead, you can select the number of users who will not be able to see your private information. You need to have this person in the address book’s contacts. Choose the person and hide the data for good. Apart from that, the service has updated the FAQ department and you may find more information you need. It contains the updates on the privacy settings.

Now you can see the four settings available. Before that, you could see only Everyone, Nobody, and My Contacts. Now you can also choose My Contacts Except.

Are you excited about the new feature? Will you use it? Express your opinion in the comments under the article.
