The most recent season of Fornite was initially marked by major changes: Epic Game decided to strip the game completely of its building mode. Given the fact that it was arguable Fortnite’s signature functionality, it’s surprising to learn that it appears to have increased interest in the game. This is especially true when it comes to some serious live streamers. These include Twitch Streamer Ali Hassan, better known as SypherPK, and Michael Reynolds aka The Fierce Diva.

Both Hassan and Reynolds admit they weren’t particularly thrilled by Fortnite’s decision the moment it was announced. The latter mentions he was furious when he learned about it. That was largely due to the perception that his subscribers valued his ability to build and edit things more than other aspects of his gaming. Hassan decides to give the new mode a chance just briefly before moving back to the “normal” game. Interestingly, both streamers are still part of the Zero Build Mode Fortnite community and report seeing big names such DrLupo, Nickmercs, and more return to the game due to the recent changes.

Removing building has surely given the game a fresh twist. This wouldn’t probably have been enough to bring back those long gone, but it also makes Fortnite more universally accessible as it lowers the bar for new players. According to Hassan, the intricate build mode used to be the arena in which players with years of experience would inevitably destroy aspiring Fortnite. Currently, the building is back in the non-competitive battle royale edition of the game, but the interest in Zero Build remains pretty high. Have you tried this new mode?
