Zoom Fixed a Vulnerability Issue in the Latest Update
2022-08-17
The fact that Zoom has many security gaps has been talked about for years. At the recent DefCon hacking and security conference in Las Vegas, attendees raised the question that Zoom could unintentionally help hackers get into other people's MacBooks.
Zoom has already experienced an episode in which it was blocked in mass in many countries. That was especially true during the Covid-19 pandemic when people privately used Zoom for video conferencing. For example, Angle and SpaceX have banned Zoom on corporate computers. In Germany, they only allowed it in emergencies on personal computers.
Zoom has admitted its mistakes and released an update with corrections. You must install Version 5.11.5 for your safety.
Vulnerability in the Zoom app was detected at launch. Since the user is asked for special permission to launch the program, hackers can trick a person into installing the malicious product. In this case, it will have a Zoom sign, and the inexperienced user absolutely won't notice a fake. Therefore, the hacker can get into the device and take total control of all the information it contains.
To install the latest update, open the MacBook zoom app and click "zoom.us" at the top panel. Then select "Check for updates." If it's available, you'll see information about the latest update and an Update button. Once you click on "Update," the update will start downloading. The interface may vary slightly depending on your country.
Well, it is good that Zoom reacts promptly to user complaints and fixes bugs. It seems that now Mac users can hold conferences in Zoom without fear of data leakage from their devices.
Have you had any problems with insecurity due to the use of zoom? Have you updated the app to the latest version?
