A Fund by Zoom Supports 13 New Apps with $100M
2021-12-15

There is more to Zoom than its famous video conferencing service. It is expanding quickly, having established Zoom Apps Fund for investments and exploration. Now, it invests a total of $100 million into new apps and services which are meant to join the Zoom ecosystem.
The recent activities of Zoom Ventures are anything but minor. The amounts it operates would seem incredible for Zoom itself at the beginning of its ascendance. Now, with the money right on its hands, Zoom Apps Fund supports apps that it finds interesting for further development of the Zoom ecosystem. In the end, they should contribute to the core Zoom experience.
Initial investments by Zoom vary from $0.25M to $2.5M per project. With these investments, the developers focus on apps compatible with Zoom or features that Zoom intends to embrace and add to its functionality. In August, Zoom Apps Fund chose the first batch of 12 companies that got support from it; now it adds 13 more to the portfolio.
The 13 apps Zoom Apps Fund has selected for its second round offer various enhancements to the experience. Some of them add visuality to meetings, like Filo.co (virtual campuses with all types of enhancements) or Grain (recordings, transcriptions, and organizing features). Others focus on entertainment, like Dive (gamifies meetings) or Funomena (develops games to play on Zoom). There are also special solutions for workouts over Zoom, its integration with other chats like Slack or MS Teams, or AI-powered decision-makers and meeting assistants. It seems like soon Zoom will offer an app for any situation in life that can benefit from a video conference.
Are you a Zoom user? Which of these apps would interest you the most? Do you think there is a real breakthrough waiting among these? Let’s discuss it in the comments below!
