Wasn’t it frustrating not being able to ‘like’ someone’s Stories without starting a DM conversation? Thankfully, Instagram was aware of this inconvenience, which prompted them to add a button that allows you to ‘like’ the Stories that you see in your feed.

Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, has shared with everyone this good news and shown in several screenshots a new heart-shaped button located at the bottom of the screen when you view someone’s Story. All you have to do is tap it and the owner of the Story will receive a message that someone liked it.

Unlike regular likes under pictures and videos, Stories likes can only be seen by the owner in the Story insights. It should be noted that the new Stories likes do not send a DM, so don’t worry about your inbox getting flooded with DMs of people who liked your Stories.

It was also pretty annoying for the person who wanted to like a story since the only way that you could do it in the past is by sending a DM. But now, all you need to do is press a button to show that you are interested in or liked someone else’s Story.

This is bound to boost Stories engagement, while also providing Instagram with information on how Stories should be ranked, making the hottest ones show up in the beginning. It should be noted that this is all just speculation and Instagram hasn’t announced yet that these new likes will be used for ranking. However, it would be a shame if they weren’t used in this capacity since it’s always nice to see the most relevant content in your feed.

Instagram is bound to use this new feature to improve the user experience by showing them more of the things that they like, literally.

Have you been waiting for the ‘Stories Like’ feature? Wasn’t it frustrating that you had to send a DM every time you wanted to react to someone else’s story? Feel free to tell us what you think in the comments below.
