Apple’s new version of its mobile operating system, iOS 15, has finally made it to our phones, but it turns out the release is short of several crucial features just yet. Both iPhones and iPads are still waiting on SharePlay, iCloud Private Relay, Digital Legacy, and other essential functionality promised at this year’s WWDC. So, what is missing, and when can we expect to enjoy the full-fledged version?

iOS 15 and iPadOS 15: Best Features Currently Unavailable

A slew of features and improvements were noticeably absent at the time of the iOS 15 launch on September 20, 2021. Apple is to release some of these a bit later as future updates, but there are also several features we might never get to see if our iPhones and iPads are older than the 2017 iPhone XS.

Here are a few things we currently do not have on iOS 15:

  • SharePlay

This one is the most awaited new feature that is currently unavailable for iOS 15 users. SharePlay allows enjoying a shared video-watching or music-listening experience with your friends during FaceTime calls.

  • Find My network support for AirPods

Also coming later this fall is the Find My support for AirPods feature that should make it much easier to locate your AirPods Pro and Max by connecting these to the Find My network.

  • App Store’s in-app events

This latecomer functionality will enable iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 users to quickly discover significant featured in-app and in-game events through the App Store.

  • Universal Control

Possibly among the last to arrive this year will be the new Universal Control feature that allows users to control their iPads with their Mac M/KB and even drag and drop files between the two devices.

Does your iPhone or iPad support the new functionality? Which of the upcoming features are you most excited about? Feel free to speak up in the comments below and share this post with your friends!
