Despite the promotional material featuring Gunn alongside Superman Unlimited #1 appearing to be a strategic marketing effort, the mention of his cameo in Creature Commandos was more spontaneous. Dean Lorey, the showrunner for Creature Commandos, revealed that Gunn had no conscious involvement in determining his appearance.

We decided to include all characters in various moments in the credits, thinking Gunn warranted a nod himself. We spent considerable time discussing how to represent him—what would his mannerisms be, how would he lean back in his chair, etc.

Given the collaborative environment around Gunn, it's clear the animators wanted to honor him through this element, showcasing the respect he commands among his peers. With Superman's release scheduled for 11 July 2025, it remains to be seen how this approach will unfold in the broader context of the DC universe.
