Shapeshifting Comes to Among Us

A new treacherous trick will be added to the popular detective game. The impostor will be able to transform into one of the crewmates.

InnerSloth — the studio behind the famous space thriller Among Us — has leaked an upcoming change. A shapeshifting ability will be added to the Impostor’s arsenal of tricks and tactics. For a short amount of time, you will be able to disguise yourself as one of the Crewmates. However, you need to avoid being spotted while morphing. Otherwise, the nifty talent will render itself useless.

Besides, the authors hinted that there will be a temporary clue, with which you can track down and unmask the devious Impostor. But it wasn’t specified how this clue will work and what it’ll look like.

The Impostor will have access to the “dossier” on all Crewmates, which will let them choose one to imitate. Besides, the shapeshifting ability can be tweaked in the lobby before the game starts. Originally, it’s intended as a time-limited perk, but now, players can choose to make it last longer or even, probably, make it work nonstop. The latter would be a nice catch to increase the difficulty of a session. During the crew meetings, the Impostor will be turned back to their original persona.

Intriguingly, the studio has prepared more new abilities and roles for the players. It was hinted that Crewmates will also get to exploit unique talents to sniff out the Impostor more efficiently. Though, we have to wait to see how this is going to work. The upcoming Shapeshifting Update has no set release date yet. So, at the moment, you can sharpen your detective skills and intuition with the classic Among Us gameplay.
