Use the Punch-Boost Trick to Move Quicker in Apex Legends
2021-12-13

Games like Apex Legends are initially designed as inexhaustible in terms of new tricks. A Battle Royale game is a sort of sport, so players constantly invent new tricks to get the best of their rivals. One of these has been revealed only recently, and this combo lets you move your character down the slopes much faster.
The idea of using this acceleration is credited to the YouTuber named wrthcrw (pronounced “wraithcrew”). To do it, you must first find a slope that ends down where you want to land. Then do the following:
- Crouch, with your back turned to your destination area.
- Melee while simultaneously holding the S button on the keyboard or pushing your left analog stick backward on the gamepad.
- Slide backward.
The results are impressive. The vlogger compared how much time it took to slide down an incline named Highpoint on the Storm Point map in both manners: regular and Punch-Boost. It took him ten seconds less to get to the foot of the mountain using the new technique.
Though with this style of movement you’re looking backward, it’s quite easy to get used to it and stop exactly where you need. Not that there is an endless selection, but any Apex Legends map has a sloped surface suitable for applying punch-boost, and you can make it an advantage when the situation requires that.
One does not need any mad skill or special gaming equipment to use punch-boost. A regular keyboard or gamepad will be quite suitable for that. Neither does it require a special Legends: it works with all the characters available, though, say, Octane and Horizon benefit more from it. The main inconvenience is the necessity to look backward while sliding down extremely fast. In addition, one better keeps from jumping while performing that.
Have you already tried this boost? Didn’t you feel dizzy like some of the video viewers? And is Apex Legends still your favorite Battle Royale? Let’s talk about it in the comments!
